Tasting notes
(74% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Semillon): Very pale yellow. Muskier and richer on the nose than the 2013 version, with the Semillon element and a leesy quality apparent. Rich and spicy on the palate, conveying lovely ripeness to the lemon and anise flavors. Boasts impressive palate presence, if not quite the complexity of the 2013. This broad, suave white Bordeaux blend finishes with piquant acidity, a suggestion of honey and excellent length. Drink now or hold.

The 2012 Director’s Reserve White is a blend of 74% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Semillon raised in 30% new French oak for nine months with regular lees stirring. It has a more herbaceous and earthier bouquet compared to the 2013 with touches of greengage, pear, grass clippings and grapefruit that blossom in the glass. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity: citrus lemon and hazelnut, a subtle marine influence coming through towards the finish. This is a very well-crafted white blend that should drink well for 6 or 7 years.
