1975 Tomatin 46YO Warehouse 6 Collection, 46.5%

On Tuesday it was announced that award-winning Highland distillery Tomatin have released the third expression in their acclaimed Warehouse 6 Collection: 1975. Distilled on 8th December 1975, this single cask, ex-Oloroso Sherry Butt, has been gently maturing for the past 43 years in Warehouse 6. Nestled in a quiet corner of the distillery, this traditional dunnage warehouse holds the distillery’s most treasured casks, laid low on antique wooden rails, above cool earthen floors and stacked single level. Tomatin Distillery has been producing and blending malt Scotch whisky since 1897. At its peak in the 1970s, Tomatin was the largest distillery in the world operating 23 stills and producing 12 million litres of alcohol every year. Over the last decade however there has been a switch in focus to a core range of single malts, which have quickly gained attention, resulting in Tomatin winning a host of awards including Distiller of the Year 2016 and Brand Innovator of the Year 2017 at the Icons of Whisky Scotland Awards. The Warehouse 6 limited edition range showcases some of the very best expressions this impressive distillery has to offer. The 1975 follows the hugely successful 1971 and 1972 and, as previously, comes presented in a luxurious fashion. There are just 300 hand-blown Glencairn Crystal decanters packed within an exquisite case fitted with a unique opening mechanism, featuring two rose gold metal buttons on the sides. Accompanied with glasses decorated with solid copper bands, a solid copper stopper and a numbered certificate detailing the story of the whisky.
