The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses wafts from the glass with aromas of ripe lemon, crisp yellow apple, iodine and dried white flowers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, bright and saline, with tangy acids and a racy, decidedly mineral profile. This, too, is very well made and true to type.

An exotic and quite ripe, almost candied edge, but this is underpinned by extremely assertive acidity that really bites and lights up the palate. This has richness and that trademark Preuses acidity, bringing a lemon sherbet-like spark on the finish. Drink or hold.

Tank sample. Something quite floral on the nose. Edgy and fairly stony. Pretty classic even if not ethereal. (JR)
