Deep violet. Ripe dark berries, fruitcake and vanilla on the aromatic, spice-accented nose. Pliant and expansive in the mouth, offering juicy blueberry, cherry-vanilla and baking spice flavors and a touch of mocha. Finishes long and smoky, with resonating spiciness and mounting tannins.

Deep, opaque black with some purple tones. Saturated, inky, baked blackberry. Deep, with bacon fat oak, spice and meat. Layered aromas, with integral oak. Firm, but fine tannins, spice, liquorice and liqueur black fruit. Long. Fine example of classic Barossa Shiraz. (TJ)

A blend of Barossa Valley floor and Eden Valley shiraz that delivers an impressive wine of great layering and interest. The nose runs from fragrant, savory spices and flinty, stony notes to darker fruits and more earthy notes. The palate has a very focused core of dark, spice-wrapped blackberries and blood plums, long and supple tannins and a chocolate-laced finish. Drink or hold.

A blend of Shiraz from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, Torbreck's 2016 The Struie brings hints of cracked pepper and mint together with big blueberry fruit, and somehow those turn savory by the long, tannic finish. It's full-bodied and firmly structured, wonderfully aromatic and intoxicatingly complex, and it represents a terrific value in the Torbreck lineup.
