An excellent quality Pessac white, getting right to business with a juicy kick of citrus and stone fruits, and waves of slate, rosemary and white pepper, and great lift on the finish. 2017 is tasting great in both red and white for many Pessac wines at the moment, and this one from the Bonnie family is one to look out for.

Diam closure. Tasted blind. Pale lemon-green colour. Very fresh and vibrant on the nose, all citrus and green fruit. There is a slight reductive flintiness but it is not obtrusive to the fruit. The palate follows, with mouth-watering acidity and zesty fruit. Very finely etched, with good delineation and precision. The spice is subtle, waxy yet steely on the finish. Long. (TP)

The 2017 Malartic Lagravière is a rich, sumptuous wine endowed with tremendous richness. Raspberry jam, mocha, new oak, licorice, mint, chocolate and sweet spice are all kicked up a few notches in this flamboyant, exotic Pessac-Léognan. This is an especially dense, heady style. I would give the 2017 a few years in bottle to see if the new oak integrates a bit more fully. Tasted three times.
