Tasting notes
The 2017 Lafitte-Carcasset is a pretty wine. Bright floral notes give Lafitte Carcasset a distinct aromatic presence to play off the sweet red cherry and blood orange flavors. This pretty Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois has a ton of potential and is a real sleeper in 2017.

The 2017 Lafitte Carcasset has a tightly wound bouquet that feels delineated but needs to show more vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit laced with tar and tobacco. There is modest depth to this Saint-Estèphe with a pleasurable, almost pastille-like aftertaste. Fine, though not a patch on the impressive 2016 from 12 months ago.
Darkest crimson with black core. Aromas of fresh cassis and oak spice, dark-fruited. Lithe, supple texture with juicy fruit and plenty of freshness. But there's dominant milk-chocolate flavour on the finish which seems to flatten the wine slightly at the end. (JH)
The inky-colored 2017 Château Laffitte Carcasset gives up a tight, compact bouquet of black raspberry and cassis fruit, hints of sweet oak, medium-bodied richness, and ripe, yet present tannin. It's a beautiful, concentrated, impressive Saint Estèphe that has outstanding potential, and then some.
