Tasted blind. Mid-deep ruby colour. Savoury on the nose – pencil shavings, dried leaves. Autumnal. Already decaying in fruit on the palate, this is firm and foursquare. Lacking some joy on a mulchy finish, where the tannins seem to dominate. (TP)

The 2017 La Garde is a very pretty and subtle wine with tons of aromatic complexity and impeccable balance. This has really developed nicely in its aging. La Garde is a lovely, floral, red-fruited wine of understatement and graciousness.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 la Garde offers notes of warm black and red cherries, baked plums and cassis with touches of cedar chest, pencil shavings and fragrant soil. Medium-bodied, the palate has nice, bright crunchy fruit and appealing freshness with a pleasant chew to the finish.
The 2017 La Garde has an airy bouquet with red cherries and light tobacco scents. The palate is well balanced with quite "strict" tannins, good acidity with blackberry and graphite notes on the short but focused finish. Fine.
