Tasting notes
The 2017 Les Cerisiers is laced with sweet red cherry, cedar, tobacco, crushed flowers and licorice, all of which add pretty aromatic top notes. On the palate, the 2017 is a bit slender, just as it was en primeur. Even so, the 2017 offers plenty of character and remains a terrific value.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Francs les Cerisiers delivers notes of warm red and black plums, blackberry preserves and fruitcake with touches of garrigue and unsmoked cigars. Medium-bodied, it has a firm, chewy texture supporting the delicate flavors, and it finishes on a savory note.
The 2017 De Francs - Les Cerisiers feels a little muddled on the nose: earthy black fruit and a touch of melted tar, but missing a sense of focus. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins and displays a fine bead of acidity. Here you find the class that is missing aromatically. I appreciate the focus and classicism on the tobacco-tinged finish. Maybe those aromatics will improve with bottle age?
Sweet berries with some tomato-paste and fresh-herb undertones. Medium body, light tannins and a tangy finish. Drinkable and enjoyable now.
