Tasted blind. Deep ruby colour. Very fragrant – fully expansive aromatics of red berries and violets. Bright red fruit on the palate, quite crunchy and lithe. Compact and easy, it should drink well fairly young. (TP)

The 2017 Le Boscq is soft, fruity and easygoing. I expected to see a bit more depth and overall structure, but the 2017 is certainly a pleasant, everyday drinker. Supple, silky red fruit and floral notes come together in a nicely balanced Saint-Estèphe that has a good bit of near-term appeal.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 le Boscq is a little broody to begin, with notes of tar and new leather over a core of warm red and black currants, mulberries and cedar chest plus hints of menthol and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a solid frame of grainy tannins and tons of freshness supporting the muscular red and black fruit, finishing with good length.
The 2017 Le Boscq has a slightly staid bouquet that is correct but lacks real flair or excitement. The palate is very approachable thanks to its very pliant tannins and there is a fine bead of acidity. Yet, there is a need for ambition on the finish and does not really imprint itself upon your vinous memory bank. Drink over the next five years.
