Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 La Fleur Peyrabon rocks up with notions of baked blackberries, plum preserves and blackcurrant pastilles plus wafts of underbrush, cloves, pencil lead and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is filled with expressive black fruits and a grainy texture, finishing with a spicy lift.

61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28.5% Merlot, 10.5% Petit Verdot. Mid cherry red. So classic on the nose: pure dark fruit, dry and layered with minerally stone dust. There’s a slight herbaceousness but this just adds elegance. Delicious in its harmony of gently chewy tannins and dark, non-sweet fruit. Elegant and mouth-watering even if it is relatively light bodied. (JH)
Bright purple crimson. Pretty and scented. Sweet-fruited on the palate. A lovely balanced whole. Not a standout but all in place and with firm yet chocolate-textured tannins. Juicy, too. (JH)
The 2017 La Fleur Peyrabon is a very pretty, understated Pauillac. Silky, nuanced and gracious, the 2017 has much to offer. Bright floral notes and red-toned fruit are the signatures in this very tasty, affordable Pauillac. What a pretty wine this us.
