Tasting notes
The 2017 La Tour de By offers fresh red and black fruit on the nose that for me is well defined and is much more representative of Bordeaux than the Cuvée d’Exception. The palate is medium-bodied with vibrant red berry fruit laced with red cherry and orange rind, nicely proportioned with an open and nicely detailed finish. Enjoy over the next decade.

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot . Hint of gaminess on the nose. Rather looser and simpler than some. Bone-dry finish but not enough stuffing to match it. Pretty lean and austere. (JR)
Very dark with black core. Sweet cassis and black plum on the nose. Could do with a little more oomph on the palate but balanced and fresh overall. Slightly dusty/chalky finish. (JH)
I found a touch of dry tannin in the 2017 Château La Tour de By and it’s a firm, tight, borderline charmless effort.
