The 2015 Benjamin de Beauregard is a very pretty second wine from Beauregard. Black cherry, chocolate, plum, new leather, spice and dried herbs give the wine its distinctive flavor and aromatic signatures. The Franc is pronounced in the blend, especially in the tannic structure, which shows some rough edges. Then again, that is what second wines are for.

The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Le Benjamin de Beauregard has an earthy, meaty, gamey nose with an herbal undercurrent and red fruit preserves plus a hint of damp soil and fungi. Medium-bodied and just a little lean and chewy, it gives lovely expression nonetheless and has an herbal lift on the finish.

About the producer
Named after its founder, Bernard Beauregard, this property is one of few Pomerol addresses to have an actual château – here a stately 18th-century construction designed by the man behind Bordeaux’s Grand Théâtre.
