(50% new oak; half Garenne and half Chalumeaux): Slightly high-toned aromas of very ripe stone fruits and strong nutty, spicy oak, with the wood element coming as a shock after Matrot's other 2015s. Concentrated, penetrating, rich and dry, with the oak element dominating stone fruits and oatmeal in the middle palate. A bit lacking in finesse following the Chalumeaux but long on the finish, which shows a phenolic quality that's accentuated by oak tannins. There's no shortage of acidity here, but this youthfully disjointed wine will need time to find its ultimate balance.

Organic. A blend of Garenne and Chalumaux with a percentage of new oak, unlike the Meursault and Meursault Charmes, which are all used barrels. Subtle but very inviting aroma that seamlessly combines citrus fruit, oak spice and grapefruit zest. Dry but creamy, mouth-watering and long but should be approachable relatively young even though it has the potential for greater complexity. (JH)

(50% new oak; half Garenne and half Chalumeaux, aged in 50% new, slowly toasted barrels): Bright, light yellow. Reduced aromas of peach, white pepper and menthol, plus a whiff of herbs; showing very little in the way of vanilla or butter from the new oak. Dense and sappy in the mouth, with a sweet, inviting pineapple flavor supported by a firm mineral underpinning. Flattering but fresh on the tactile, slightly phenolic finish, displaying a touch of positive bitterness. Lovely material and length here.
