Tasting notes
The 2001 Magari, what might be called the “deuxieme vin”, is an elegant, linear, focused wine with a Graves-style weight and aromatic impact. It is light but sweetly herbaceous with ripe black berry fruit, polished tannins, and admirable continuity on the palate. Drink: 2005-2012. This is the second set of releases from Angelo Gaja’s important new estate in Bolgheri and, considering that the grapes are from very young vines, it seems clear that a very significant future is in store for the property. Importer: Paterno Imports, Lake Bluff, IL; tel. (847) 604-8900
