Tasting notes
Vivid ruby. Spice- and smoke-accented red berries on the highly perfumed nose, complicated by a touch of candied flowers. Palate-staining bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors gain energy and life from an undertone of juicy minerality. The floral quality repeats on the penetrating finish, which is shaped by silky, harmonious tannins.

The 2013 Gigondas Les Racines has more substance and offers lots of blackcurrant, crushed rock, leather and Gigondas spice-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, nicely concentrated and with plenty of tannin, it’s an outstanding effort that will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and drink nicely through 2025.
Vivid ruby-red. Intense cherry and red berry scents show excellent clarity, picking up notes of anise and candied flowers with air. Spicy, concentrated and focused on the palate, with sweet, mineral-laced raspberry and licorice pastille flavors lifted by juicy acidity. Closes sweet and extremely long, with smooth tannins building slowly and evenly.
