Lots of rusty red on the rim. Not one of the deepest coloured. Seems quite evolved on the nose. Tea and treacle on the nose. Then lovely lift. Pretty dry finish and very delicate. Tastes as though this is from a particularly high site. (JR)

Porro's 2006 Barolo Vigna Lazzairasco possesses a touch more density and structure than the S. Caterina. Freshly cut flowers, tar and new leather develop in the glass, adding layers of complexity to the beautifully articulated fruit. The Lazzairasco is a serious Barolo that needs time but it is shaping up as one of the hidden gems of the vintage. It is a fabulous effort from Porro.

Serralunga d'Alba. Very pale ruby, watery orange rim. Slightly medicinal and very closed. Lovely lightness of touch and sweet crunchiness on the finish. (WS)
