Guy Charlemagne is a Champagne grower from Mesnil that, for expert Richard Juhlin, makes “some of the purest Champagnes on the market.” The Mesnillésime is the flagship of the house and to Juhlin “a wine for every serious collector.” Combine this with the brilliant 2008 vintage and this becomes a Champagne that should be in every cellar. It is from Mesnil, the most prestigious of all of Champagne’s villages and the home to some of the most expensive and exclusive cuvees including Krug’s Clos du Mesnil and the incredibly prestigious Salon. This brilliant location translates directly into the wines of Guy Charlemagne. For expert Richard Juhlin “the Le Mesnil character is, if possible, even more tangible than in wines from the neighboring Salon” immense praise given that Salon costs many times the price of this cuvee.
