Tasting notes
Benoit Ente's 2015 Bourgogne Aligoté is superb, opening in the glass with an incipiently complex bouquet of honeycomb, yellow apple, lime blossom, gingerbread and subtle leesiness (though without any overt suggestions of reduction). On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and youthfully tensile, with bright, succulent acids and a serious structural chassis for its appellation. For anyone wondering how this lovely wine compares with the benchmark Aligoté produced by Benoit's brother Arnaud Ente, the answer is that Benoit's is just a touch more generous and gently sun-kissed out of the gates.
