Ripe, fleshy, and mouthfilling, the 2016 Château Pierre de Lune comes from a tiny (1.05 hectares) organically farmed vineyard and is all Merlot that spent 15 months in 50% new oak. One of the more fleshy, sexy wines in the vintage, with a ton of ripe black fruits, it has a forward, fruit-loaded style, good concentration, and a great texture, all pointing to it evolving nicely over the coming 10-15 years.

Attractive, deep and impressive, rich fruit with a subtly earthy edge on offer. The palate has a rich and intense core with dark-cherry and cassis nuances, as well as a deep plum-soaked finish. Try from 2021.
The 2016 Pierre de Lune is 100% Merlot aged for 15 months in 50% new and 50% one-year-old Taransaud oak barrels. It has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of baked plums, blueberry compote, tobacco, hoisin and dried bay leaves with wafts of potpourri and camphor. Medium-bodied with great intensity and plenty of black fruit in the mouth, it has a velvety texture with just enough freshness and a long, decadently spicy finish. Only 100 cases were made.
