2016 La Patache

The 2016 La Patache, from one of several Peter Kwok properties, has an intense bouquet of red cherries, crushed strawberry and hints of Moroccan spice and truffle oil. The well-balanced palate is fresh on the entry, with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity. I admire the harmony of this Pomerol, and the lively, almost zesty finish that belies the structure underneath. This should drink well for the next 12 to 15 years.

Beautiful, Pomerol violets and wet earth with a wealth of blueberries and ripe blue plums in a very fresh mode. The palate delivers a very assertive and juicy array of fine tannins, carrying rich plums and berries that are nicely illuminated by acidity on the finish. Try from 2023.

The 2016 La Patache is soft, fruit and open-knit, all of which make the wine easy to drink and enjoy upon release. Super-ripe red cherry, mocha, licorice, sweet spice and new leather all run through this racy, supple Pomerol.
