Quite lifted and assertive nose with dark berries and a wealth of oak spice, following through to the palate. Some rustic nuances. Early drinking here.
The 2016 Haut Condissas is a powerful, racy wine. Élevage has left the 2016 with strong torrefaction and new oak character. There is good depth to the fruit, but I am not sure this wine needs, or can even handle, 100% new wood. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.
The 2016 Haut Condissas has an opulent bouquet with crème de cassis, blueberry and light truffle scents that emerge with time. The palate is sweet on the entry but there is plenty of structure here, grippy in the mouth with cedar and tobacco infused dense black fruit on the finish. This will require a couple of years in bottle but there is clearly potential here.
