Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Candale gives up notes of warm black plums, black cherries and mulberries with touches of new leather, cigar box and truffles. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is delicately played with a soft, plush texture supporting the understated fruit, finishing earthy.

From the famous hillside slopes outside Saint Emilion, the 2016 Château de Candale offers a terrific bouquet of red and black currants, crushed rocks, truffle, and dried earth. With medium to full body, ripe tannins, a chewier, structured feel to its tannins, and a good finish, drink it over the coming decade.
Rich, brambly red and dark-berry aromas, as well as some fresh, stony nuances. The palate has a suave and nicely cut core, framed in crisp, stony tannins. Try from 2022.
The 2016 de Candale has gained tremendous breadth and textural presence over the course of its aging. Super-ripe black cherry, chocolate, new oak, leather, licorice and tobacco all flesh out in this plush, large-scaled Saint-Émilion. Tasted two times.
