Tasting notes
Good full red. Extremely ripe, almost roasted nose is dominated by a nutty quality. Then brighter in the mouth and highly concentrated, with hints of tobacco and cedar. Still, I find more dried than fresh fruits here, and the wine could use more lift. Finishes with granular, drying tannins. I'm not sure where this wine can go with more bottle aging?

Barolo fans who want to experience the magic of Voerzio's Barolos without spending the small fortunes required to acquire them will want to put the 2006 Langhe Nebbiolo at the top of their shopping lists. This remarkably polished, elegant wine reveals tons of fruit in a rich, powerful style. The tannins are incredibly finessed and elegant as the wine literally covers every corner of the palate. Most producers would kill for a wine like the 2006 Langhe Nebbiolo. It is incredibly to consider that here it is one of the entry-level offerings. In a word: superb.

I was blown away by these new releases from Roberto Voerzio. In particular, Voerzio has ratcheted up the quality of his entry-level wines in a meaningful way in 2006. To be sure, none of these wines is inexpensive, buy they truly deliver the goods, and then some. A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Montvale, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
