The amber-hued 1999 Rivesaltes Ambré Grande Reserve is a blend of Grenache and Macabeu. It spent 10 years in cask and then 10 years in bottle prior to release last year. Now, it's honeyed and nutty, with hints of maple syrup and walnuts balanced by a certain lightness (it's only 15.5% alcohol) and a vibrant, citrusy undercurrent. It's actually possible to drink a full glass of this, unlike some older, more concentrated examples. It's ready to drink now, but it should easily hold another decade in a cool cellar, maybe longer.
