Tasting notes
The 2015 Le Difese is bright, gracious and nicely lifted, with a good bit of aromatic kick and lift from both the Sangiovese and the decision to pick the Cabernets on the early side. Fresh and aromatically expressive, the 2015 is very pretty. Sweet floral and berry fruit flavors abound in this refreshing, mid-weight Tuscan red from Tenuta San Guido. A dollop of Cabernet Franc adds perfume.

The 2015 Le Difese (Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese) offers a smooth and symmetrical interpretation of the vintage with bright fruit flavors of forest berry and wild cherry backed by mild spice and grilled herb. This is an informal and moderately concentrated effort that sports fresh appeal and good acidity. It would make a great pairing partner to a hearty home-cooked pasta dish.
‘The only San Guido wine that has a little Sangiovese blended into it’. Mid crimson. Subdued, sour cherry nose. Supple and succulent and not unlike Caiarossa, if with a rather firm, tannic grip on the juicy fruit finish. (WS)
Tight and delicious with currant and blackberry character. Hints of spice and berry. Medium body and a lively finish. Savory at the end. Drink or hold. Aug 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
