Tasting notes
Light bright yellow. Mineral-accented orchard and pit fruits and a hint of violet on the perfumed nose. Densely packed yet light on its feet, offering palate-staining nectarine, pear and Meyer lemon flavors that show outstanding clarity and powerful back-end thrust. The floral and mineral notes repeat with gusto on the strikingly long, seamless finish, which shows wonderful clarity and tenacity.

Another blockbuster is the 2015 Condrieu Clos Chanson, which was tasted from bottle. Full-bodied, rich and unctuous, with a liqueur of rocks-like quality, as well as thrilling notes of caramelized citrus, tangerine, gunpowder and spice, it’s a heavenly Condrieu to enjoy over the coming 3-5 years—although this is one beauty I’m sure will evolve for longer as well.
Bottled August. Pale apricot colour. Not very expressive on the nose yet – and distinctly hot on the end. Too much for me. But it may grow into a swan from this rather ugly duckling. (JR)
