The 2015 Corton La Vigne Au Saint Grand Cru has a clean, slightly smudged bouquet of raspberry, cranberry, ash and pressed flowers; it’s just a shame there is not more precision here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit matched with a silver bead of acidity. Good density and grip in the mouth, and fine delineation on the finish. This actually improves in the glass. Promising. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Corton La Vigne au Saint Grand Cru exudes freshness and vivacity. Hints of orange peel, cranberry and white pepper from the whole clusters (45%) add a striking aromatic upper register. This is another wine with a super-appealing push and pull between ripeness of fruit and salivating acidity. Quite frankly, in a blind tasting, this would be very hard to peg as wine from a warm vintage. - Antonio Galloni

The 2015 Corton Grand Cru La Vigne Au Saint was showing just a touch of reduction on the nose, though underneath lie succulent strawberry jam, raspberry preserve and fresh orange zest aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is one of David Croix's most elegant offerings, but don't let that fool you into thinking this does not deliver plenty of fruit...it does. It just feels so focused and tensile that you almost miss the puissance here. Simply one of the best wines David Croix has made...so far.

Cask sample. Southwest-facing vineyard, only three producers of which Louis Latour is the biggest. Deep soils and 60-year-old vines, 45% whole bunch. Dark crimson. Vegy and lively with real raciness – though this may be due to the whole-bunch influence. Slightly green note. Very clean but not that long. (JR)
