Tasting notes
Inky ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits, olive, vanilla and star anise on the highly perfumed nose; a bright mineral overtone adds vivacity. Velvety and seamless in the mouth, offering concentrated boysenberry, violet and spicecake flavors that tighten up steadily on the back half. Weighty but energetic as well, showing strong closing thrust and harmonious tannins on a long, blue-fruit-dominated finish.

Classy and elegant, with impressive notes of plums, violets, peach pit and spring flowers, the 2014 Crozes Hermitage Clos des Grives is medium-bodied, silky and polished on the palate, with fine tannin and no hard edges. It's not a blockbuster to be sure, but it has tons of charm, purity and elegance. I suspect it will drink well through 2024.
