Tasting notes
The 2014 Les Vieux Clos displays an intense golden-yellow color and opens with a deep, intense and concentrated, herbal-scented bouquet of ripe and stewed seed and stone fruits intermixed with flinty notes from crushed slate and volcanic rocks. Full-bodied, elegant and juicy-intense on the palate, this is a silky textured, beautifully balanced and firmly structured Chenin with very fine, Pinot-like tannins and floral as well as herbal notes on the sustainable and elegant finish. This is a rich yet also tight, refined and crystalline Savennières of unique class and style. Tasted in May 2020.

Joly's golden-yellow 2014 Savennières Les Vieux Clos is pure and elegant on the herbal and flinty nose, where spicy lemon/lemon grass and ripe, concentrated fruit aromas are displayed. Very well defined! On the palate, the 14.5% alcohol comes along in perfect balance: very elegant and finesse-full. since the powerful body is lifted by a piquant acidity, a lovely transparency and finesse, and finally escorted by a dense and lush fruit texture. The finish is very precise, fresh and aromatic, but also full of elegance, salt and stimulation. Oct 2016, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2016-2024
