(14% alcohol; from grapes picked on September 4): Bright, green-tinged yellow. Aromatic nose melds white peach and spices. Juicy and stylish but dry and backward too, showing surprising verve for its 3.7 grams per liter acidity. The fine-grained peach flavor is complicated on the end by a sexy yeasty nuance. Finishes dusty, fresh and long.

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes was a little anonymous on the nose following on from the Meursault Perrieres and needs to show more terroir expression. The palate is balanced, but strangely the second half feels dilute and anonymous. Not sure how representative this is...I hope that the answer is: not much.

Cloudy pale yellow. Ripe stone fruit and spice aromas are complicated by an iodiney oyster shell note. A rich, ripe fruit bomb on the palate, with just enough mineral spine to maintain its shape. This big boy finishes long, with strong saline minerality for the year and for the cru. Offers excellent potential. Beginning with the 2014, this wine is aged partly in foudres , noted enologist Nadine Gublin, "because we like it."

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru from Jacques Prieur has a simplicity on the nose that is exposed by its juxtaposition against clearly superior wines. The palate is perfectly decent with fine acidity, yet it clearly lacks the same level of mineralité as the Comtes Lafons or the Ente. Tasted at the 05/15 Burgundy dinner in The Good Earth.
