Tasting notes
From the southern part of Meursault, the 2015 Meursault Blagny 1Er Cru is another 2015 that knocks it out of the park. Lots of salty iodine, stone fruits, and hints of reduction all emerge from this rich, textured, impressively layered white. With terrific purity, a deep, layered texture, and medium to full-bodied richness, it's a powerful yet elegant wine that will keep for a decade or more.

Pale, bright yellow. Complex stone and soft citrus fruit and mineral aromas are ripe but subdued. Generous, intense wine with citrus fruit and spice flavors showing lovely sucrosité as well as harmonious framing acidity. Finishes with a glyceral chewiness and hints of exotic soft citrus fruits but nicely maintains its balance. Thierry Matrot notes that the soil structure really makes this wine, "as it does the Chalumeaux in hot years."
Light yellow. A touch of leesy reduction to the aromas of lemon oil, white pepper and minerals. Then sweet and generous on the palate, considerably more harmonious than the nose would suggest. This round, silky wine is fine-grained for Blagny. It's still carrying three grams of residual sugar but tastes dry thanks to firming finishing notes of fresh citrus fruits and peppery spices.
