2015 Meursault Boucheres

The 2015 Meursault Bouchères 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet of clementine, yellow plum and jasmine and light tertiary scents. The palate is well balanced, with a pretty entry of citrus peel and light peachy notes, moderate depth and an approachable, open, lightly spiced/smoky finish. It does not deliver a great deal of persistence or intellect. Yet it is an enjoyable Meursault to crack open in the near term. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 30 closure)

Tasted blind, the 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Bouchères exhibits a pretty bouquet of ripe citrus, pear, stone fruit pit and blanched almonds, followed by a medium to full-bodied, delicately textural palate that's bright, precise and decidedly elegant in profile.

(bottled the week before my visit; aged in 20% new oak; this fruit was the first to be picked in 2016, on August 28): Bright yellow. Aromas of white peach, lemon, nutmeg and vanillin oak show the tightening influence of the recent bottling. Conveys less weight but more vibrancy than the Clos de la Barre; in a rather cool style for Bouchères, which tends to be honeyed. Not yet displaying a lot of personality but not at all overripe. Finishes with a light touch.
