The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a showy, vanilla-y bouquet with overt scents of passion fruit, guava and orange blossom. There is something a little superficial here. The palate is rounded in the mouth, yielding a plump Corton-Charlemagne that feels very ripe, and then there is a jarring, bitter finish that feels ill-matched to the rest of the wine. Odd. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Bright light yellow. Aromas of lemon oil, wild herbs, lavender and crushed stone. Broad and floral, showing attractive estery lift and some exotic suggestions to its apple and herb flavors. Doesn't quite come alive on the finish, which shows a trace of alcoholic warmth as well as a faint phenolic edge.

Solid but not a step function better than their other wines really. Direct and pure. (JR)
