More ethereal than its decidedly terrestrial Chorey-lès-Beaune cousin, Emmanuel Rouget's 2015 Savigny-lès-Beaune Village offers up an expressive nose of cherry and strawberry, mingling with top notes of violet. On the palate, the wine is silky and medium to full-bodied, framed by supple tannins and endowed with a juicy, gourmand core of fruit. This is an immensely delicious Savigny.

Once again the nose is super-fresh if notably more elegant with its pretty and airy array of red cherry, currant, earth and an enticing floral hint. The freshness of the nose is present on the palate as well as the well-detailed, vibrant and intense flavors deliver fine length on the very refreshing finale. This is a Savigny villages of relative finesse, which is not especially common. Worth considering. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
