Score 93/100 · Drink 2015-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2015

Martinelli's 2012 Pinot Noir Three Sisters Vineyard is sweet, layered and quite pretty. Hard candy, mint, crushed flowers, tobacco, game and savory herbs are nicely lifted in a delicate, feminine Pinot that will drink well pretty much upon release. This is a decidedly savory Pinot Noir from Martinelli. Subtlety and a total sense of nuance are the signatures.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2015-2023, Robert Parker, Dec 2014

The Zio Tony’s structural youthfulness is rivaled by the 2012 Pinot Noir Three Sisters from Ft. Ross-Seaview. This saw the lowest percentage of new oak (60%) of any of these Pinots, and possesses copious notes of redcurrants, pomegranates, cherries, Asian spices, sandalwood, and nutmeg. This complex, medium-bodied effort is the lightest of the 2012s, but it is by no means a light wine. Drink now-2023.

About the producer

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
