Tasting notes
The Pajoré is the most complete of these 2007 Barbarescos. Sweet baking spices, menthol, minerals and new leather lead to a powerful core of dark fruit. This is a massive, powerful Pajoré endowed with tons of fruit and the commensurate tannic structure that will allow it to age gracefully for many years. As is often the case, I am drawn in by the sepia-toned, balsamic nuances that are layered so beautifully into the wine's fabric. This is an utterly beguiling, large-scaled Barbaresco that will require patience.

Sottimano’s 2007 Barbareschi have been impressive every time I have tasted them, starting from barrel a few years ago, to two tastings from bottle in recent months. Readers owe it to themselves to check out these exceptional, beautiful hand-crafted wines. Various American importers, including: Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY; tel. Treiso. Medium-deep ruby, with lighter rim. Very sweet, open-knit nose, peppery. Much the same on the palate. Pleasant but not very complex. Tannins somewhat rough and astringent. (WS)
Medium red. Reduced aromas of strawberry and smoke. Sweet, lush and stuffed with material. Bigger and riper than the 2006 version but quite backward today and not yet showing the same flavor definition. Finishes with big but sweet tannins and very good breadth and length.
