Tasting notes
Pale yellow. Musky, sharply focused citrus and orchard fruits on the fragrant, mineral-accented nose. Juicy and tightly wound, showing a suave, weightless quality to its bitter lemon pith and pear skin flavors. Combines power and elegance seamlessly and finishes with excellent vivacity and lingering notes of flowers and Meyer lemon.

Probably picked late March. Always sourced from a single cool-climate region. This area used to supply sparkling wine. Fermented and matured for eight months in 100% old French barriques. TA 6.4 g/l, pH 3.3. Some ambient yeast. Very pale. Quite stinky and sweaty on the nose initially. Massive acidity. Light and fresh. Tang of wet stones. Chewy and light. Completely unrecognisable from Australian Chardonnay 10 years ago. (JR)
The 2014 Chardonnay Bin 311 has a lovely grapefruit and white peach nose with hints of brioche, cedar and almonds plus a touch of honeycomb. Tight, light to medium-bodied, clean and fresh in the mouth with great intensity, it has a long, mineral finish.
