Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2019, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

From a much cooler vintage, the 2014 Condrieu Vertige is another seriously good effort that sports terrific notes of flower oil, citrus and hints of apricot jam in a fresh, lively and juicy style. The nose is richer than the palate, and the wine finishes with bright acidity. Drink it over the coming couple of years.

(raised in 50% new oak for 18 months): Light, bright yellow. An intensely perfumed, expansive bouquet evokes ripe citrus and pit fruits, violet, candied ginger and fennel, with a bright mineral overtone. Deeply concentrated yet light on its feet, offering palate-staining orange, nectarine and honeysuckle flavors and a subtle, sweetening touch of vanilla. The floral quality carries strongly through an impressively persistent and focused finish.

Cask sample. Rich nose with very strong green-fruit flavours. (JR)
