Tasting Notes
As it often is, the 2013 Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard is a wine of precision and nuance. Scents of lemon peel, nuts, white flowers and herbs are deeply suggestive of a nuanced Chardonnay that delivers plenty of intensity while remaining light on its feet. This gracious, feminine Chardonnay is one of the many standouts in 2013.

The 2013 Chardonnay Vine Hill is one of the more aromatic, lifted wines in this range. Gracious and delicate to the core, the 2013 is quite understated in this vintage, perhaps because the slightly higher than normal yields bring out more of the floral signatures of this site than is typically the case. From the vineyard in front of the winery, the 2013 Chardonnay Vine Hill Road Vineyard offers up the classic Old Wente clone style of white peach, white currants, honeysuckle, apple blossom, medium to full body, gorgeous purity and richness in a style similar to a Corton Charlemagne from Burgundy. Drink it over the next 4-6 years. Mar 2016, www.robertparker.com
About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
