Tasting notes
Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Syrah. So expensive now! And so crazy in such a large region full of people trying really hard to have only one producer fetching these prices . (Although this was included for interest value only, Yapp suggested a price of £240.) This is fully mature, admittedly, and tastes almost like Trevallon rather than pure Languedoc. A tad pinched on the end. Balsam notes. A bit sour on the end and not that much fun. (JR)

Slightly deeper ruby in color than the 2011, the 2013 Grange des Peres offers a terrific bouquet of black cherries, black raspberries, peppery herbs, wet rocks and hints of new saddle leather. This medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, elegant red is already hard to resist (it benefits from a decant) and will keep for a decade.
40% Syrah, 40% Mourvèdre and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for two years in a combination of used and new oak barrels. Mellow shaded ruby. Sweet but lifted and interesting. Polished and racy with a very savoury finish. Far from concentrated – rather modern transparent style! Very digestible. (JR)
