Tasting notes
Score 86-88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2006

(75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc) Deep ruby-purple. Cassis, blueberry and mint. Juicy and densely packed, with extremely primary, even brutal flavors of blackberry, blueberry and violet. Finishes with powerful tannins. This is aging entirely in concrete tanks and will be very slow to evolve, especially owing to the strength of the raw material in 2005. But I'd still rather see this in wood.

Owned by the Vauthier family, who also own Ch. Ausone, this large Saint-Emilion estate is the entry-point to the Vauthier range. It is an excellent introduction to the family’s wines and great value, offering an earlier-drinking style.
