The 2015 Daugay has turned out nicely. Sweet tobacco, red cherry, mint, licorice and dried flowers add aromatic nuance to this pretty, gracious Saint-Émilion. This looks to be an early-maturing wine. In this tasting, the Daugay comes across as a bit more nuanced than it did from barrel en primeur .

Blackish crimson. Very mild nose. Nothing very dramatic and with some fairly simple fruit, but a good concentration of tannins on the very slightly watery (in terms of fruit concentration) end. Hint of sandpaper. (JR)

The 2015 Daugay delivers good up-front intensity in its super-ripe fruit, but loses some persistence through the mid-palate and into the finish. The wine's lovely aromatic presence compensates to a degree for the lack of depth and overall complexity. Succulent red cherry, mint, hard candy, wild flower and sweet spice are laced throughout. This is a decidedly ripe, racy Saint-Émilion with plenty of near and medium term appeal. Tasted two times.

The 2015 Daugay has plush mulberry and cassis fruit on the nose, fleshy and with an almost peach-like note developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, thick tannin that lend this Saint Émilion good depth. It feels well balanced towards the end, though it turns a little introspective when you seek a little more brightness. Sultry? Give it 3-4 years in bottle.
