Tasting notes
The 2015 Condrieu comes in slightly behind the 2016s, but is certainly solid stuff. With an exotic bouquet of green citrus, tangerine, flower oil and hints of tropical fruits, it’s medium-bodied, elegant, and polished. It will last for 3-4 years. Located in the northern part of Saint Joseph, this family-run estate has produced a bevy of high quality, noteworthy wines in both 2016 and 2015. Despite seeing plenty of new oak, I nevertheless find a very traditional style in the wines from Gaillard.

Green-tinged yellow. Ripe, mineral-accented mango, pear nectar and peach aromas, along with a floral nuance that builds with aeration. In a fleshy, generous style, offering sappy orchard and pit fruit flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. The floral note repeats strongly on the very long, focused finish, which leaves behind a sweet poached pear note.
Pierre has made a classic, medium-bodied 2015 Condrieu that offers lots of freshness and purity in its spice, dried herbs, white peach and citrus aromas and flavors. It’s ideal for drinking over the coming 2-4 years.
Attractive bright white-musk and banana aromas. White peaches are also on offer, together with gentle spices and lovely fresh flowers. The palate delivers plenty of flesh and ripeness, tasting of grilled spiced bananas and apricots. It's smooth, supple and silky. Ready now and full of pleasure. Oct 2016, www.jamessuckling.com
