(a blend of fruit from Le Corton and Bressandes): Healthy deep red. Soil-driven aromas and flavors of raspberry, mocha, minerals, chocolate, game and earth. Plush but weightless; on the light side for grand cru but shows terrific vinosity and inner-mouth tension thanks to penetrating minerality. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent, with lingering dark fruit and spice flavors. Leroux told me that this blend was an accident: he added some Bressandes to his Charlemagne in 2013 just to fill the fermenter and liked the results.

The 2014 Corton Grand Cru is an assemblage of various lieux-dits. It has a lifted, quite floral bouquet, that Bressandes fruit lending some complexity and mineral tones. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of stems (just 10% here) lending freshness and delineation, moving towards more black fruit towards the sappy finish.
