Tasting notes
Lifted nose of sweet perfume and cherry. Gorgeous profile on the palate with sweet spices, lavender and a pure inner core of soft kirsch. Silky tannins and fresh acidity are balanced perfectly making this a Barolo is already drinking very nicely and that will keep getting better. (Mar 2016) Drink 2017-2026

The 2012 Barolo is a robust and opulent expression from a hot and dry vintage. Dark and ripe cherry fruit rise to the top, but the wine is a bit rough in terms of mouthfeel with tight, loosely textured tannins.
Grimaldi's 2012 Barolo, a blend of fruit from Terlo and Ravera, is an attractive, entry-level offering. Sweet tobacco, herbs, mint and sweet red cherries are all laced together in a very pretty, gracious Barolo that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The 2012 is gracious and light on its feet, yet has that deceptive intensity and depth that is so typical of Nebbiolo. This is one of the better straight Barolos readers will come across in 2012.
