This dense, concentrated wine is full of dense, concentrated cassis, with plenty of structure to guarantee a slow development in bottle. This wine is a very classic wine, such as is rarely made in Bordeaux this side of 1982.

The 2015 Rouget has a clean and pure bouquet with ample black cherries, boysenberry, sage and truffle aromas. A little glossy in style but retaining fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, sweet and slightly candied in style with touches of curry leaf and tobacco toward the finish that just needs to muster more detail and sophistication. Needs time. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Tasted blind. Intense and round and full of black-cherry fruit. A little green-vegy on the end – whole bunch? A bit demanding. (JR)
About the producer
Close to the Pomerol church, the Labruyère family purchased this property in 1994. They immediately set to work, restructuring the vineyard, renovating the winery and allowing the property to emerge from the shadows.
