From a site in the northern part of the appellation, the 2015 Château Picque Caillou sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as complex notes of both red and black currants, lavender, wet stone and spring flowers. It’s a fresh, elegant, beautifully focused Pessac that has impeccable balanced and ripe tannin, as well as solid length. It’s ideal for drinking over the coming decade.

Light aroma of grapefruit and cedar and then lovely depth of fruit on the palate. All primary still but much more to come, the texture and the fruit in harmony with the freshness. Sour-fresh finish. Balanced but not particularly intense. (JH)
Blueish dark crimson. Very direct fragrance. Relatively light and fresh but very Graves. No tarting up and quite ripe enough. Tannins need to melt a little but very refreshing, (JR)

About the producer
Neighbouring Haut-Brion and Pape Clément, this estate has been turned around since Paulin Calvet took over in 2007. Working with the legendary late Denis Dubourdieu and Valérie Lavigne, results have been impressive.
