2015 D'Arsac

A major sleeper in this vintage, the 2015 d'Arsac is superb. Hints to savory herb, flowers tobacco and mint meld into a core of sumptuous dark red fruit. This bold Margaux Cru Bourgeois is a serious overachiever and flat out delicious. The 2015 is 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2015 Château D'Arsac is solid, although there are certainly better Margaux out there. Framboise, crushed flowers, strawberries, and spicy notes all emerge from this ripe, rounded, front-end loaded effort. It has a terrific sweetness of fruit and a good finish, but I’d lean towards drinking bottles over the coming decade.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 D'Arsac has plenty of dark berry fruit tinged with tobacco on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, quite sharp in the mouth, edgy with a light marine influence on the slightly tinny finish. Give this another year in bottle. Tasted September 2017.
