Lighter nose than the 2016. Much less body too. At the moment it’s a bit teenage and gawky without quite enough flesh for the tannins. (JR)

Tasted blind. Notably dark crimson. Polished, rather mineral nose, quite intense. Juicy fruit initially and then very drying on the end. May get there. (JR)

Made from 85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot that was harvest between September 25th and October 15th, the 2015 Couvent Des Jacobins is another terrific wine from this vintage. Black cherries, graphite, leather, and hints of toasty oak all emerge from this rich, full-bodied, ripe and beautifully concentrated effort. With fine tannin and a good finish. It should drink nicely for a decade.

Blackish crimson. Almost overripe on the nose. Sweet and rich. Good energy and polish. (JR)
