2015 Chantegrive

The 2015 Chantegrive is bold, ripe and forward. Succulent red cherry, tobacco, licorice, dried herbs and menthol take on shades of brooding, intense power in this decidedly virile wine. The tannins are a bit imposing today, but another 6-12 months in bottle should do the trick. The blend is 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasted two times.

The 2015 Château de Chantegrive is another killer value in 2015 and is based on equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Loaded with notions of caramelized cherries, tobacco, truffle, and a hint of earth, this beauty hits the palate with a ripe, sexy, opulent style carrying polished tannin and plenty of length. Drink it anytime over the coming decade.

Smoky cedar and citrus, delicate note of struck match. Dry and woody (rather than oaky) on the palate, clean-cut, fresh and with good fruit depth. Mouth-watering finish. (JH)
